Mechanical engineering denotes a broad field that has to do with the generation and transmission of mechanical energy. Since this motive energy is often derived from heat, much of the work of mechanical engineers involves thermal energy. Similarly, since these processes need to be housed and the energy transmitted, mechanical engineering is also concerned with the structures in which such devices are housed, and with how they work and fail - mechanics, which is closely related with the process of deciding how to put these devices together - the act of design. Finally, it is necessary to evolve processes, by which these devices are to be constructed, which leads to the science of manufacturing. These days computer play a vital role in our daily life, the design and manufacturing sciences are moving forward as CAD/CAM. In addition to these tasks, the trend towards greater quality has seen a gradual move towards integration with sensors and automation, leading to the modern science of robotics.

 

Mechanical Engineering at ECET

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 2011 with 60 students, now it has been 120 students per year with in a short span of time. The Department has excellent lab facilities with state of the art equipment and it has highly qualified, experienced and committed faculty members. The Department gives importance not only to academic education but also ethical values and personality development of students.

To develop Eluru College of Engineering & Technology into an Institution of Global standards catering to the educational needs of students and also contribute to the welfare of local Community.

To impart total quality education at Under Graduate and Post Graduate levels by: Inculcating best teaching and learning practices; providing opportunities for faculty development, Consultancy, Research; striving for maximum results in the examinations; Creating avenues for industry interaction to provide training and placement opportunities; managing the institution with good governance and transparency and strive for well-being of local community.
